The Registered Psychiatric Nurse Regulators of Canada (RPNRC) is the national umbrella organization for Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) regulators in Canada.
About Us
The RPNRC collaborates nationally to achieve excellence and consistency in regulatory requirements and processes.
Its members are the regulatory bodies who through provincial and territorial legislation, are accountable for public protection by ensuring that registered psychiatric nurses are able to provide safe, competent, and ethical nursing care.
The RPN Profession
Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) are health care professionals who are concerned with the health, especially the mental health, of individuals, families, groups and communities. They collaborate with other regulated nursing professionals (Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Licensed Practical Nurses) and mental health service providers in various practice settings.
Becoming an RPN
Psychiatric nursing education prepares graduates to meet the entry-level competencies for Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs). RPNS are registered and licensed in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
